چکیده
Current evidence-based knowledge, essential basic science and modern clinical practice are explained in 25 focused and authoritative chapters. Each chapter guides the reader in the use of fluid therapy in all aspects of peri-operative patient care. Guidance is given on the correct selection, quantity and composition of fluids required as a consequence of the underlying pathology and state of hydration of the patient, and the type and duration of surgery. Edited by Robert G. Hahn, a highly experienced clinician and award-winning researcher in fluid therapy, this is essential reading for all anaesthetists, intensivists and surgeons.

متن کاملEffect of perioperative goal-directed hemodynamic therapy on postoperative recovery following major abdominal surgery—a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
BACKGROUND Goal-directed hemodynamic therapy (GDHT) has been used in the clinical setting for years. However, the evidence for the beneficial effect of GDHT on postoperative recovery remains inconsistent. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the effect of perioperative GDHT in comparison with conventional fluid therapy on postoperative recovery in adults undergoin...

Goal-directed therapy (GDT) can be a vague term, meaning different things to different people and, depending on the clinical environment, sometimes even different things to the same person. It can refer to perioperative fluid management, clinicians driving oxygen delivery to supramaximal values, early treatment of sepsis in the emergency department, and even to restriction of perioperative crys...
متن کاملFluid therapy in the perioperative setting-a clinical review.
BACKGROUND Perioperative hypovolemia and fluid overload have effects on both complications following surgery and on patient survival. Therefore, the administration of intravenous fluids before, during, and after surgery at the right time and in the right amounts is of great importance. This review aims to analyze the literature concerning perioperative fluid therapy in abdominal surgery and to ...

BACKGROUND Enhanced recovery may be viewed as a comprehensive approach to improving meaningful outcomes in patients undergoing major surgery. Evidence to support enhanced recovery pathways (ERPs) is strong in patients undergoing colorectal surgery. There is some controversy about the adoption of specific elements in enhanced recovery "bundles" because the relative importance of different compon...
